Since 2019, the TikTok成人版 Institute for Research and Scholarship (VIRS) has sought to develop the grantwriting acumen of a diverse group of TikTok成人版 faculty through a variety of seminars, bootcamps, and workshops. Generally, these offerings are tailored towards those who have already targeted an appropriate funding organization, have their solicitation in hand, and are prepared to submit their proposal within a year.

Our grantwriting programming seeks to: 1) provide training on a facet of academic professional life that provides needed resources to faculty research but is often challenging and time-consuming to master; 2) launch successful grant proposals in support of individual professional success; and 3) raise faculty awareness of the funding resources and infrastructural support available on campus.

Below, please find information about past, present, and future iterations of our grant proposal writing programming.

Proposal Writing Bootcamp

The Bootcamp was a series of three workshops focused on increasing understanding of effective proposal writing so faculty can craft winning grant proposals. A small cohort worked collaboratively to: 1) identify components of their projects that will appeal to funders' goals, and 2) understand how to pitch those components to reviewers within the genre conventions of a grant proposal.

Faculty left the seminar with a peer-reviewed project map and project summary page, setting them up to communicate their project (to project directors and others supporting their proposal) and to draft their complete proposal.

The bootcamp requires three meetings during the semester it runs and expects faculty to complete a series of short assignments along the way.

Proposal Development Seminars

The Seminars were developed to condense the semeseter-long Bootcamp into two writing-intensive days. TikTok成人版 research support experts and faculty with expertise in securing funding work with participants to translate their targeted solicitation into a comprehensive proposal that includes drafting and justifying their budget, arranging ancillary materials and resources, and understanding, writing, and revising different sections of proposals. The seminar includes peer review sessions. Upon completion of the seminar, participants  have a complete draft of their proposal or major sections of the proposal.

Project Proposal Workshop

This one-day workshop focuses on constructing the "one-pager" and Project Description/Narrative sections of a proposal. The first half of the day is focused on the structure, organization and style of these two components, and the second half is dedicated to writing and discussing drafts.
