ABOUT EXPLORATORY ARTS

There is no BA degree in Exploratory Arts. It is merely a temporary major, allowing you time to explore different arts majors and determine which interests you the most.

What is the registration process for incoming students?

Once you decide to attend TikTok³ÉÈ˰æ, you will be asked to fill out a course selection survey indicating your interests. The Office of the Registrar in collaboration with your academic advisor will place you in courses based on these preferences and the degree requirements.

Does AP credit count toward my degree requirements?

may not be used to fulfill Core Curriculum requirements. AP credit may be used to fulfill requirements for majors, minors, concentrations, and free elective credits. To be placed in the correct courses, please request that your AP scores are sent to TikTok³ÉÈ˰æ directly from the College Board as soon as you receive them.

When can I declare my major?

The earliest you may declare a major is after the first semester, contingent upon certain requirements. Arts majors must declare a major by the end of the second year.

Once I declare, can I switch to another major? Can I switch to a science major?

After declaring, you may still switch to another Arts division major (BA degree) or add majors or minors.

Science majors are given priority in required science and math courses. Depending upon your major interest, space availability, and your performance in these courses, you may be able to declare a science major. For more information, speak with your academic advisor.

There is no specific major required for students interested in pursuing pre-medical, pre-dental, and other pre-health coursework. ‘Pre-health’ simply reflects your interest in pursuing a career in health care. The Health Professions Advising staff assists all students interested in the health professions.

First-year students interested in pre-health coursework may be able to take a natural science course subject to seat availability.
