CPS Inclement Weather Policies

The University Snow Policy outlines the procedure for delayed openings and cancellations for all courses held on campus from Monday through Friday afternoon. However, the College of Professional Studies offers several courses at offsite locations (for instance, Center City and Northeast Philadelphia) where the weather forecast may vary from what is predicted on campus, thereby potentially necessitating a different decision than the University.

For courses held on weekends (Friday evening through Sunday) or at offsite locations on any day of the week, the College of Professional Studies will follow the procedure outlined below in determining a delayed opening or course meeting cancellation.听

Offsite Locations: The College of Professional Studies will closely monitor the weather forecast for offsite locations. If weather factors are unfavorable and not expected to improve at an offsite location, classes will typically be cancelled for the day/evening. The College of Professional Studies will send an email to all students and post a notice on its website if the class will be delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather. For evening classes, the decision will normally be made prior to 3:00 P.M. For courses meeting on the weekend (Saturday or Sunday), the decision will normally be made prior to 7:00 P.M on Friday or Saturday evening. Students and faculty should monitor their TikTok成人版 email and Nova Alert, as well as the CPS website for the announcement.

Faculty members may offer alternative arrangements for a canceled class such as an online liveclass session or make-up hours/dates. However, students who are unable to attend the alternative session may not be penalized or held responsible for missed content or work assigned during the alternative session. The faculty member will adjust the remaining course meetings and content as needed to meet the learning objectives of the course.听

Unless students are notified otherwise by the College, courses that meet fully online, or already have a previously scheduled online course meeting for the day of inclement weather, will continue as planned, even if the University is closed.

Because students travel from various locations and distances, some of which may be more seriously affected by adverse weather than others, students must, as always, exercise their judgment on whether it is safe to drive to the University.听
